Lagos State University - also known as LASU - was established in 1983 by the enabling law of Lagos State with the vision of pursuing the advancement of learning and academic excellence. The university has been unrelenting in the pursuit of its mission of becoming a citadel of learning, a community with the trademark of excellence in teaching, research and service to humanity.
The Faculty of Science, a foundational part of the university, includes nine departments. It offers quality teaching and laboratory practices to prepare students for societal contributions and secure futures. Research focuses on environmental issues and industry collaboration. The faculty started admitting BSc students in 1984/85. By 1989/90, the Biological and Chemical Sciences department was reorganized, and by 2000, all nine departments became independent.
Abstract submission is now open for the Lagos State University Biennial Faculty of Science International Conference (FoSIC) 2024 scheduled for 11th - 14th November, 2024.
